Juli Schuszler: Bio
Tidewater native, Juli Schuszler, an established artist with work in both private and corporate collections, is known for her vibrant masterpieces showcasing the beauty of nature. She creates in a variety of mediums including oils and pastels. Her work has been displayed in both regional and national exhibitions. Since her debut in the fine art world, Schuszler’s artwork has been featured in over thirty-five galleries.  Schuszler exhibits her work in regional art centers and galleries.
Schuszler inherited her artistic talent from her father and she began painting with oils when she was ten.  She received her BFA with a concentration in studio art from Old Dominion University.  Her career and travels have taken her to many beautiful places, including France, Jamaica, St. Lucia, Charleston, South Carolina and Miami, Florida, where she spent over 10 years teaching and sharing her passion for art.  While residing in Miami, she continued her advanced studies in the field of studio art and art education at Florida International University, studying oil painting and pastels with David Y. Chang.
She first began her career in the commercial art world, recreating album artwork with quick dry enamel paint for the music store, Tracks, in Norfolk, Va. Her commercial art career has included work as a junior designer for Newport News Shipbuilding, and work as a technical illustrator and AutoCAD drafter for military contractors. Schuszler enjoyed a rewarding career as an art teacher in public school and at local colleges and art centers. She has taught at Thomas Nelson Community College, Rappahannock Community College, and Christopher Newport University. In 2015, she retired from teaching art to concentrate on her studio career.
